Handstand Workshop

Handstand deconstructed with Anastasia Rose

Just because you may not be able to do a handstand today, doesn’t mean you can’t do it someday. Today’s the day! Take control. Be empowered. A handstand is within reach!

During this workshop, you will learn techniques, tips and drills, and get plenty of practice to prepare the body to safely invert and stand on your hands. You will practice against the wall, under the care and attention of the instructor to learn the necessary skills to intentionally turn your world upside down by choice.

No prior handstanding experience is required, although prior yoga experience is a plus. Bring a yoga mat and your willingness.

Secure your spot now as space is limited

Jivamukti with Emily Smith

Whether you're a beginner, deciphering the difference between vrksasana (tree) and sirshasana(headstand) or an advanced yogi who can put both feet behind their head, the Jivamukti Open class welcomes you, as it is open to practitioners of all levels.
You work at your own pace, following the teacher's verbal as well as hands-on guidance. Asana options will be provided for beginners, intermediate and advanced students.
A typical Open class incorporates the five tenets of Jivamukti Yoga:
shastra (scripture)
bhakti (devotion)
ahimsa (kindness)
nada (music)
dhyana (meditation)
The class will be taught by Emily Smith
Emily Smith began practicing yoga shortly after the birth of her first child in 2005. Yoga not only helped rehabilitate her body but also awakened her to the powerful presence of something much greater than herself. When she began studying with Giselle Mari in 2006 she was introduced to Jivamukti and soon found herself immersed in the practice and study of this dynamic, integrated method. Inspired by her teacher, and with the support of her family, Emily attended the 300-hour Jivamukti Teacher Training in 2011 at the Omega Institute in Rhinebeck, NY. She savored every moment of the training, receiving the teachings directly from her teachers, Sharon Gannon and David Life, to whom she bows in humble gratitude. She is eternally grateful to her first teacher, Giselle, for providing unconditional love, guidance, and opportunities to assist and be of service. Emily also honors her incredible family and extends love and blessings to the amazing community of Jivamukti teachers around the world who inspire so many.

Absolute Beginner Yoga Series

If you have never tried yoga before, it can be difficult and to know where to start. Googling the word yoga brings up 380 million different results, and YouTube is filled with plenty of videos of dancer-gymnasts practicing yoga poses that, from most of us, elicit gasps of wonder and disbelief. Sometimes all of the information out there about yoga, because the practice is so very ancient and so varied, can even seem intimidating. This is why I have created the Intro to Yoga series. My goal is to show you that not only does yoga not have to be something that is scary or intimidating, but that it is something that is completely attainable to you…and fun! ANYONE can do yoga, regardless of age, gender, background, or size. If you can breathe, you can do yoga!

Inner Peace: A Yoga Workshop for Breaking Bad Habits & Addictive Behaviors

The energy of addiction is one of disconnection, both from ourselves and others, and once rooted addictive behaviors become almost impossible to overcome without outside help. Addiction isn’t limited to chemical substances. People struggle with all kinds of things: work, relationships, sex, food, drugs, emotions, thoughts, alcohol, shopping, gambling, suffering, anger, Facebook, iPhone, sugar, television, porn, exercise, and more.

Yoga has a rich tradition as a lifestyle system which can help those facing addiction to live a healthier lifestyle. Simply put, Yoga can plug you back in to yourself and your life! Through asana (postures), breath work, visualization, and more, we hope to offer you additional tools on your road to recovery.

If you think you might have a problem with addiction of any sort, or if you’re curious about the energy of addiction and the freedom and hope of recovery, please join us for this workshop. For those of us already in recovery, no matter what stage you are at, we wish to expand your "spiritual toolkit" by showing you more tools that really work.

10% of your ticket price will go back to MN Adult & Teen Challeng Rochester

The New Year for Trees

"Every person has a birthday. Every year has a birthday. Every tree has a birthday too. Today is the birthday for trees. It is still cold outside but now, after the winter rest, the trees begin to grow again. They draw water from the ground into their roots and sap begins to flow into their branches. In a few weeks, we will see their leaves and flowers. In a few months they will give us their fruit. Today is the birthday for trees." ~Adam Fisher

Join me as I help the Rochester Jewish Women's Circle in their Tu Bishvat celebration. This day is a celebration for the renewal of trees an for all of nature. We will focus on balance, gentle stretching and breathing.
